incl. festival packing list
Summer, sun, festivals. It is again this wonderful time of the year when you dance yourself into a trance with flowers in your hair. If you want to have a carefree, unforgettable summer experience with your friends and want to stay in balance, then this article is just the thing for you. Here you will find everything you need to know about Yoga Festivals and Festivals with Yoga Workshops. For the spontaneous among you, we have put together a festival packing list and also reveal our favourite festivals where you can greet the sun this summer.
Sunshine and good vibes - Dancing at a festival can be very liberating.
In our article 10 tips for yoga on the road, we have already introduced you to yoga retreats. A Yoga Festival has similar advantages, but is more relaxed overall. Some critics of gentle physical training think Yoga Festivals are festivals without bands, where you do sun salutations and meditate from morning to night. But although yoga is the heart of such festivals, there are many other elements that make it a diverse and colourful experience.
At a yoga festival you can try out new yoga styles, such as Acro Yoga or Kundalini. This way you can expand your knowledge of the yoga lifestyle and meet other yogis at the same time. You can even participate solo, without the fear of feeling alone. Because the community feeling at Yoga Festivals is warm and cordial. Besides Yoga there is usually art, music and workshops where you can try out new activities or practices.
Yoga and so much more - Ganesha, one of the deities of Hinduism.
Tip: The so-called cocoa ceremony is totally trendy at the moment and definitely a special experience.
Find your tribe - Yoga in nature.
You don't have to go to a yoga festival to take your mat with you on your weekend trip. Many other festivals now also offer great yoga workshops. The offer can sometimes even be quite overwhelming. To make your choice easier, here is an overview of yoga styles that we find especially cool:
How weightlessly you float in the air and rely on your yoga partner - that is Acro Yoga. The yoga positions not only look beautiful, but also form a firm trust in your partner yogi. Often the couples find each other locally - a good opportunity to meet new people.
Yeah, you read right. There really is nude yoga and it is an incredibly liberating experience. It is about developing a healthy body perception without shame, evaluation or criticism. Together we want to normalize our body image and celebrate our bodies. We understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea, but we recommend it to all those who want to try something completely different. Have the guts, it's worth it.
Kundalini stands for the energy flow of your body. Yoga postures, meditations and mantras will awaken your Kundalini, release energy sources and purify your nervous and glandular systems. In this way you strengthen your stamina and find inner peace to enable a harmonious and happy togetherness. Already the first Kundalini experience can lead to a higher state of consciousness, sometimes even to ecstasy.
Share, Laugh and Love - The cohesion at festivals.
For many, yoga stands for slow movements and long poses. But there is another way. Here the yoga practice is complemented by the expression of body language. You can imagine the whole thing as very moving yoga in combination with dance. It brings you into a wonderful flow, which brings your body into a lively dialogue with your mind and your surroundings. Yoga and Movement is full of energy, creates an open and trusting relationship and strengthens the ability to heal yourself.
Our experience is that you experience every festival experience even more intensively when you do yoga as part of your daily program. This way you can enjoy all impressions even more consciously.
With yoga mat to the festival.
Now you know what to expect at the festivals and workshops - now only you and your mat are missing. Or are there some other things you should think about? Good mood and anticipation should not be missing, of course. Besides a happy smile you will find the festival must-haves that every yogini needs:
Festival ticket - nothing works without it.
Non-slip travel yoga mat (fits in every festival bag)
Comfortable clothes (favorite yoga leggings, sports underwear, towel or hairband)
Environmentally friendly drinking bottle - Stay hydrated.
Notepad (for the particularly eager)
Camera / mobile phone for photos
Deo + small towel (microfibre towels are good)
Mala necklace, hair and body jewelry
Protein-rich snacks (for example energy bars, nuts, fruit, roasted beans and peas)
Headphones and meditation app (for solo sessions)
Tip: Especially at yoga festivals, there is an abundance of yoga mats. So that you don't accidentally pack someone else's mat, get a yoga mat with recognition value.
Don't panic, if you've forgotten something. The yoga community is open and helpful. You are sure to find someone to lend you a mat or help you out with some homemade snacks. Festivals are known to bring people together.
